But they can be better.

Lately, my phone has started to get on my nerves a little bit more than usual. The battery is starting to show its age. The are getting a little too annoying. Sometimes I even feel like throwing my phone at the wall but luckily I am not actually crazy enough to do so. Perhaps, it is time to get a new phone. So, in order to decide which phone to buy I headed to YouTube to do some research.

One of the criteria's for my phone is that it has to have good…

Love the phone, hate the name.

I think the looks really good. The way the outside display melds in with the camera modules, gives the device a very futuristic vibe. The design reminds me of something. It reminds me of the Mini Cooper. Despite loving the design though, I don’t think anyone should buy the Z Flip 3 now.

And where it should go.

In 2020, 5G support is slowly becoming commonplace in smartphones. I think the reason why most smartphone manufacturers begin including 5G in smartphones is to satisfy the carriers. Carriers wanted to sell 5G plans to offset the costs incurred in building up the 5G infrastructure. To that end, carriers would put pressure on smartphone manufacturers to include 5G support on their smartphones. I believe Apple is one of those manufacturers.

At its 2020 keynote, Apple announced the iPhone 12 family which supports 5G. Including 5G in every iPhone 12 model will bump up the cost significantly.

Kuo notes that the…

The Steam Deck is Valve’s latest piece of gaming hardware. The Steam Deck is a portable gaming pc packed into a Nintendo Switch like body. Albeit in a much bigger package.

You can get the full details .

The Steam Deck runs Valve’s own SteamOS. SteamOS is based on Linux. Thus the Steam Deck will inherit all the shortcomings of gaming on a Linux-based machine.

From experience, I find that gaming on Linux tends to be unreliable. Don’t get me wrong, games run fine but they tend to break from time to time. Valve acting as gatekeepers for the Steam…

The is Apple’s official battery pack featuring MagSafe. The battery pack can charge your iPhone on the go. The battery pack costs $99.

The battery pack charges via lightning. When charging, the battery pack will charge your iPhone at 15w but when you remove the lightning cable the battery pack will charge your iPhone at 5w instead. The interesting part is that when you charge your iPhone while the battery pack is charging, the iPhone will use reverse wireless charging to charge the battery pack at the same time. I don’t recall Apple mentioning that the iPhone…

The Liquid Retina XDR display on the new 12.9” iPad Pro is cool. From a conceptual standpoint and from a technical standpoint it is really impressive but is it really what it seems to be?

Let’s take a look.

The Liquid Retina XDR display is basically an IPS LCD display but replaces the backlight with 10,000 mini LEDs. To put it into context, the $4,999 only used 576 LEDs but to be fair those are blue LEDs which should make a difference.

So what’s the point of using mini LEDs?

There are 2 benefits of using mini…

For the uninitiated the Pixel 5 is Google’s flagship phone that was announced on September 30, 2020 and later released on October 15, 2020.

Pixel phones do not have the best hardware. The Pixel 4 shipped with the Snapdragon 855 which at that time was nearly a year old. The Pixel 5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 765G. The 765G was new at the time but it was in the mid-range category. Despite being a mid-range chip the 765G should be good enough for most people, at most tasks.

To win the hearts of its users, Pixels tend to rely…

A Discrete GPU

It’s been some-time since Apple announced that they are going to move their entire Mac lineup to Apple Silicon. So far, only the 13-inch Macs have moved to Apple Silicon. This is much slower than I initially anticipated. Of course, these delays may be due to our current climate which is to Apple’s credit not under their control.

But could it be due to something else?

When talking about Apple Silicon the main thing that people always talk about is ARM. It is easy to forget that Apple Silicon also brings along a different memory architecture. An architecture Apples calls…

What are you using your iPhone for?

For me I use my iPhone to surf the web, watch videos on Youtube, listen to music on YouTube music, listen to podcasts on Apple Podcast, play Clash Royale and to stay in touch with my family via messaging apps such as WhatsApp. Something is missing on that list, have you noticed?

I don’t really use my iPhone as a phone. At least, that’s what I think. Isn’t that interesting? I actually don’t remember the last time I used my iPhone as a phone. Out of curiosity, I took a look at the…

Window and Windows Laptop

Before I start, I just wanted to make it clear that I did not want to go back to Windows. I had to. I connect with family through gaming and Linux doesn’t really work well with games. The games I want to play are available on Linux but after several updates the games will always break. The way in which the games broke though were pretty interesting.

Firstly, games could just fail to launch. Most of the time, you won’t know what is happening to the game. The rest of the time you’ll be notified that the game is missing…
